Teacher/Governess in Kuwait

Post Tue Oct 28, 2008 12:03 pm

I'm looking for a teacher -- 24 to 35 years of age with a background in either elementary education or early childhood development to be a teacher/governess to three lively boys ages 3 5 and 7.

The teacher portion of the job will be in the afternoons to augment the daily studies in school and the governess portion will be instilling the Western socialization aspect. The children have their own nannies so there will be no non-teaching related duties.

The successful candidate must enjoy children and be able to develop and supervise after school activities. The work day starts when the children come home from school and ends at about 9pm.

The job will pay $25-35,000 (US) depending on experience. There are private quarters on the compound and there will be multiple vacation travel opportunities to Europe and other locations on holiday with the family with one annual paid holiday to your home.

Kuwait is a small but very modern country with every possible store, franchise and convenience. (28 Starbucks coffee shops!) There is a large ex-pat community.

The family is very westernized and all members speak very good English. The mother is a product of the British public school system.

If interested please feel free to contact me at for more details.

Hello!

My name is Jenny and I am writing from Sweden. This governess position sounds really interesting, like a challenge, and I would like to know more.

I have been studying 5½ yrs at a univerity and am a certified teacher in English and Biology but I have taught many other subjects as well. I speak fluent English. I have lived in both USA and England. Is me being a non-native speaker a problem? Are you mainly looking for an American or an English native speaker? I have often been told that I have no accent, but I speak American English.

I hope that I am still interesting to you and that I will hear from you soon.

Thank you!
