Hiya, try joyjobs dot com and internationalschoolreviews dot com They have some great info. I paid to join both and in both cases, awesome investments!

I'm in a similar situation - hoping to go out to the uae next August. :)

Good luck!

Tax info?

Postby Tina Connor » Wed Feb 27, 2008 9:36 am

Hello
I'm applying for teaching jobs in Dubai for Sept.
Does anyone know anything about the Revenue Canada tax situation. I've heard that when we return to Canada that Revenue Canada requires us to declare all the revenue we've made while abroad. I've also heard that Revenue Canada has no way to verify this income. In other words, you could state that you made no income.
Does anyone have any facts, tricks, or info?

Taxes and Teaching.....

Postby Camel Jockey » Sat Mar 22, 2008 11:18 am

To reply to the first posting, send me a message and I can give you the contact info of a friend of mine over here in Dubai that starting teaching last August. She can give you an overview of things better than me!

As for taxes, unless you own rental property in Canada, YOU WILL NOT PAY ANY INCOME TAX! Canada has a tax treaty with the UAE which states that you are required to pay tax in the country of your employment or permanent abode. Since all of us Canadians here in the UAE work and reside here we pay ZERO tax. It's great.almost as nice as the weather. Only US citizens have to pay tax on income over $81,000.

Come on over, hit the beach in February and don't pay a cent to the Canadian Gov.!
