Hi everyone- I'll be teaching this writing class in the new year. If you're interested, or know anyone who is, please send me an email or check out "writing classes" on my web site.

A Brief Course for Beginning Writers:
Nonfiction for Non-journalists

This series of six seminars will cover the writing and publishing of personal essays, memoir and creative nonfiction. We will focus on forms ranging from 500 to 1000 words with a view toward eventual publication. Emphasis will be on craft, revision, feedback, reviewing submission guidelines and achieving publication.

Participants need not have any experience, but should love to write and expect to spend a minimum of two hours on assignments each week of the course.

The class will be offered three times over the next months and participants can choose from one of the following calls schedules/locations:

Group one:

• Wednesday evenings in Dreieich-Sprendlingen from 8:00 to 9:30 from 21 January to 25 February, 2009. (three spots remaining)

Group two:

• Three double sessions every other Saturday morning inDreieich-Sprendlingen 10:00 to 1:00 beginning 24 January to 28 February, 2009. (wide open)

Group three:
• Wednesday mornings in Frankfurt from 9:30-11:00 beginning 21 January to 25 February. For this section of the course, childcare is available at the Elbi Strolche next to the class venue at a cost of 4 EURO per hour. (two spots remaining)

Class enrollment is limited to 6 students per section and costs 100 EURO per participant including all materials and refreshments.

About the Course:

The course is intended for native English speakers or speakers of English who have near native fluency both spoken and written. The six 90 minute sessions (Saturday double sessions are 3 hours long) will combine reading and lecture with writing exercises and discussion of works created by the class. The ultimate goal is to create a portfolio of six pieces that are ready to be submitted for publication by the end of the course.

By the way, I am looking for ways to advertise the class. Does anyone have any ideas?
