I just bought myself a couple of turkey breast pieces (hubby doesnt like bird) and some parsnips and some pumpkin. I'm thinkin' I'll grill the turkey with a steak for him (howz that for Southern?) and make a pumpkin pie and have some parsnips and taters and corn :)

Its just the 2 of us, so I'll even have leftovers for a sammich the next day :D

I find it harder and harder to remember Thanksgiving the longer I'm away from home.sigh. I got a stuffed turkey crown from the local butcher, on the recommendation of a friend, rather than doing the whole bird! Going to do mashed spuds, parsnips, brussel sprouts (or "brains" as my kids call them!) and carrots.plus gallons of gravy! Mmmmmmmmmmm! Inevitably we will do what we always do on major holidays and eat like it's our last meal on earth and have to lay on the couch holding our bellies and groaning; until a few hours later when we'll be back in the kitchen making turkey sandwiches! LOL Wish we could be watching some football while enjoying the day! :D

Hope you enjoy your day wherever you are and with whomever you are celebrating.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Laura :)
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it.

I went out and bought all the fixings today. Should be a lovely meal. Organic turkey (my husband insists), stuffing, cranberry sauce, brussel sprouts, carrots, parsnips, mash, and the makings for pumpkin pie with whipped cream to top it all off. Yum!

I'm sure I will have to roll myself away from the table, as usual.

Enjoy your Thanksgivings!

A.

Just about to pop my 15 pound bird into the oven (which is barely big enough). Stuffing, potatoes, green beans and almonds, biscuits, and corn.

I'm having a few Canadian work colleagues over (we're letting one poor Yankee crash the Canadian festivities).

Had a heck of a time trying to find that darn turkey!

Gobble gobble!

Happy thanksgiving everyone! I'm visiting my family in Toronto this weekend and man, I forgot how chilly it gets here in October :) Today should be nice though.

Hope everyone has a good one -

Thanksgiving

Post Mon Oct 16, 2006 12:25 pm

Thanksgiving? Fortunately every day I give thanks because as soon as we left Canada I seem to have forgotten Canadian Thanksgiving - every year! Of course in Playa del Carmen, Mexico you don't find a turkey until American Thanksgiving anyway. We usually end up celebrating US Thanksgiving, which I figure is extremely funny for Canadians living in Mexico! The oddest part is many Americans are not aware Canadians even have a Thanksgiving and then they ask why we do.

I however will look forward to celebrating Day of the Dead here on November 2nd. They even make bread with more bread overlaid to look like bones. I love new delicious customs!
Make it an Outstanding Day!
