Allo Rochine and welcome to the site.

I have not been to Vienna myself, but recently my bridesmaid dress went there whilst I went to Canada for the wedding. The dress found it to be a magical city as well. Laughing

Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome! Much of my mail from Canada ends up in Japan, all because I live on a street called 'Tokiostrasse'.
The upside, my christmas gifts usually arrive for my birthday in March, such is life. If you ever decide on Vienna, though please look me up.
Auf Wiedersehen.

Rochine,
A freind and I are planning to come to Vienna next summer. Since you live there do you have any advice on good hostels there? One with a good reputation. Any advice on what we "must" see while in your fair city? We won't be there too long so we want to make the best use of our time.

Hi, sorry I'm not in Vienna. I was trying to find a job there a year or so ago. but didn't Sad I even have a friend there (she's Austrian). If I ever go back there I will tell you. You can write to me if you want. for anything Smile Good luck.

For the hostel post above. you should go to the Wombats. it's one of the best hostel I've been to. There rooms are not big. usually 4 bed with a bathroom. There's a bar and it's quite well located.

Strange enough, when I was in this hostel I've met a lot of Canadians. it was in may 2005 and it was the world hockey championship. so lots of drinking with fellow Canadians took place Wink

Sorry for not replying right away.I see Allysa, you have been given the info on best hostels from Clapoi. I am glad because I have no knowledge of hostels. As for the best sights, thats a tough one. Of course Schonnbrun and Stephens Dome are a must see, but I recommend you look at these's sites they may help depending what your interests are. Tough to see all of Vienna in just a few days, but you will certainly get a feel for the magic here. In summer the Donua Innsel is a very good spot for live concerts, food and that whole summer bustle! We do have one of the best public transpot systems, so moving around is very easy. Let me know when you plan on coming, perhaps I can give you a personal tour if time permits.
Bye for now, Rochine

Hello Rochine, I moved here with my partner at the beginning of August. Have you been taking German lessons, or were you already proficient? Having only some basic German skills myself, I'm hoping to climb the learning curve somewhat more quickly once we settle on housing - which has been quite stressful so far.

another Canadian in Vienna--believe me, there are a few around!

hang out at Pointers near Karlsplatz or Flanagans by Schwarzenbergerplatz and you'll hear a few Canadian accents among the Brits, Aussies and Yanks
