The So Called Snow

Post Fri Feb 24, 2006 2:52 am

I am in Melton Mowbray in the East Midlands and everyone is panicking about the whole 1 inch of snow that we have here this morning. I have been over here for almost 7 years and it never fails to amuse me how panicked they seem to get over small amounts of snow.
I however would love to see what would happen if we actually got more then 5 inches. I reccon the country would be shut down for at least a week.
I have to say that that is what I miss most about Canada, the snow. When I go home I only go home in the winter. There is nothing more refreshing then going for a long walk in the coutry in a foot of snow.

Amen! I went home for Xmas and loved arriving to 2 feet of snow! My boyfriend (a Brit) could not get over it! He started stamping around the front yard just enjoying making footprints!

I'm in Bristol in the South West and we've had some flurries and everyone starts talking about leaving work early to get home before "it really gets heavy"!!! I have been informed that I will be used as a taxi service if there is ever enough snow to stick on the ground as they are all to afraid of driving in snow! If only they could see Ottawa mid-february!

My hubby is a brit as well and he loves going to Canada for the snow. I am from Belleville, Ontario and every time we go home my dad and I take him ice fishing and he loves it. He did however think I was mad for taking him sledging on huge hills with a inflatable tube, nut he soon got the hang of it.

I live in the Clwydian Hills so I usually do good in snow.

TOO GOOD TODAY!
:(

I'm stuck home!
I always said I'd never miss work because of snow and that it would take an almighty dump to keep me in!

But I forgot that really.. if the people drinving in front of you aren't going anywhere..you can't go anywhere..
