I've never had a speeding ticket . but then I don't drive much so I can't help you there.Very Happy

I was living in brighton for the last year or so . came back to canada to switch visas. Smile

I quite like Brighton. prolly wouldn't have gone there if I didn't have friends residing in the area already, but it's a cool place to be. Lots of stuff going on and close enough to london that you can visit the big city relatively easily. Smile

Only two weeks a year? just visiting friends and family were you?

Yup, one of my friends dj's there so its a big party city for me Smile

I did some research and a speeding ticket isn't a criminal conviction, so no worries . what part of town do/did you live in?

I have to admit I'm jealous. I was born in Victoria, and now I'm stuck in dreary ol' Calgary (though today it looks absolutely beautiful with the sun shining off the snow. it's a pity I'm so sick). I miss the coast -so- much. It's probably one reason why, when people keep asking "Why are you moving to -England-" I keep saying "'Cause I miss the rain". Very Happy

I lived On Buckingham place, basically just up from the trainstation. Pretty convenient to central brighton. I'll probably be moving closer to the sea front nearer to the old peir this time. Smile Really depends on where my new roomie finds us a place.

Lol Brighton is great for the clubs and such . I didn't know it was legal for them to stay open that late until after I had left canada. I can see a DJ doing well there plus it's so close to london. Meh I fell in love with Brighton when I was there before. Wink which is why I'm going back.

LOL Tiger that's an awesome reason! How long have you been in Calgary? I love Vic too. It's kinda weird because I never thought I would be moving away. but circumstances change.

My brother and his girlfriend were living in calgary for the last 6 months and will be moving back there again so she can finish school under the profs that she worked under on her co-op. All I remember of Calgary is the Zoo. Wink It has been a long long time since I visited that way though Razz

the old pier, nice . my friend lived on the corner of the Drive and Old shoreham rd . used to go down to the beach almost everyday and walk down to the new pier . he plays at a club called SugaQube . and lately has moved to playing at Funky Buddha and the Zap down by the beach . I've had so many "walk home at 6 in the morning"'s there . fantastic Smile

I've actually lived here for nearly 14 years, but have never really liked it. I'm a military brat so I've lived from east to west coast, even up in Cold Lake at one point (north of Edmonton), but I mostly prefer the coasts. What can I say? I LOVE the ocean. I remember finding a really old rusted canon-ball one time along the rockline by the base in Victoria. I still have it. SOMEWHERE.

Calgary is nice, if you like it. I mean, it can be a nice city. But since I'm not a huge fan of having no beaches and being surrounded by nothing but prairies, and since I don't ski or snowboard. it's not really the town for me.

Brighton sounds like a great place to have a night out. How far is it from London by train? I'm curious. Maybe I can talk my boy into taking a weekend there when I move. I wanna go out dancing!

Been to Buddah and Arc I think it's called, can't remember to be perfectly honest. I tend to go with friends and don't pay too much attention to precisely which club we are in unless I consistently hate it. Wink I will admit the latest I've stayed out is 4 am. Smile

Tiger - Ah being from a military family says it all really. It kind of sucks to have to move all of the time but there's not much for it you have to do what you have to do. I agree with you about the coasts which is one of the reasons I like brighton, it doesn't matter where you are really it's not that far to get to the ocean, although the pebbly beaches threw me for a loop at first. Not a grain of sand in sight.

The Praries tended to feel a bit lonely to me. My family is a weird mix half of them are from saskatoon, and the other half are from the west coast vancouver/ victoria. So someone's always complaining about missing the mountains or the prairies, it's impossible to win.

Brighton is about 45 - 1hr15 from london, it depends on if you catch the 'fast' train or not. There's one that has like a million stops and another that has only three. They generally leave from platforms 16- 18 at London Victoria every 30 minutes or so give or take.

If you plan on coming down I'd suggest doing a day during the summer, when it's hot out the place is CROWDED. but it's so much fun the boardwalk comes alive and there are people and things to do all along the water front. I just love it. The Bar scene can be good, although I can't imagine it being better than London necessarily, and it can get quite rowdy on the weekends depending on where you go. The bars are all conveniently located close to each other so if you don't like one you can always find another. Smile

My dad's family is from Vancouver (but his dad was apparently born in Alberta, his mum is English) and my mum's family is from Victoria (though both her parents are originally from Europe as well). So if we got any complaints about what we missed, it was the coast, or Europe! And since I'll be getting close to both soon enough--or at least more water than you can find in Calgary--I think I'll be a happy little camper. Very Happy

Ooooh. Brighton sounds -lovely- in the summer. I'll have to make sure I talk m'boy into going. When I was there last summer we didn't have the chance to do -too- much 'cause we were also trying to sort out my move. We did get to go to Paris, though, which was pretty neat on it's own. But I wanna do English stuff this time around. I'm such a tourist. >.>

Pebbly beaches is what I still don't understand. How can people lay out towels and stuff and try and get a tan on something that looks like it's gonna hurt? I much prefer the sand, but hey. I could totally be wrong. Maybe they should just import some for us Canadians. Wink
