After all the problems and screw ups from the immigration attorney, the waiting, the stress...I get to the border and they stamp my H1B for one year only. Here's the funny part - ok, really wasn't funny at the time but anyway - once I got the approval notice, I flew from Atlanta to Detroit because it was cheaper than going to Toronto (we had already moved to the US from Canada a few weeks before my H1B approval because of my husband's job). I had then planned to drive across in a rented car - there is a long story behind this but basically could not get the rented car and got stranded in at the Detroit airport. Had to take a TAXI to the border. Yes, I went through immigration with a Jordanian taxi driver beside me (nice guy, now a US citizen, but I digress). So I am stressed beyond stressed. So relieved to finally get my stamp it didn't even occur to me that this could happen and I didn't check!
Does anyone know why they would stamp it for a year? I had seen on the approval notice that it said the APPROVAL notice was valid for one year meaning I had one year to show up at the border for my stamp. Do you think the guy made a mistake and took this to mean an expiration date on my H1B???? What the heck am I supposed to do now?
