Tier 1 Dependant Visa...Need HELP ASAP

Post Tue Apr 14, 2009 9:27 am

Hello,

I am currently in the UK on a Holiday Workers Visa (which comes to an end Sept 1st 2009. My wife has just finished her student's visa and has been granted a Tier 1 visa. I am now trying to figure what I will need to do in order to change my VISA over to become a dependant on her VISA.

I know I will have to return to Canada in order to do this but I want to make sure I have all of the paperwork needed.

I can't seem to find anything online that will give me specific answers to these questions. If someone could answer these questions or direct to where the answers are that would be great. I have searched the usual suspects of websites (home office in Canada and Britian as well as various google searches)

Questions:

Is there a phone number I could call in order to ensure I could get these answers correctly?

Can I apply from Canada, with all relevent docs without my Wife present? Will I need her passport in order to apply?

I would be greatful for any help as I have not had any sucess with phone calls or emails to Canada or London

Hi there,

You can apply as a dependent under her Tier 1 visa. But you'll have to provide proof she can support you (bank statements, support funds) and fill out the required form. Go to the UK Border Agency website under Tier 1 - then there is a section called Dependents on the left hand nav (sorry i can't post the link here!?).

hope that helps
