Tier 4 (Student) Visa - Processing times PLEASE HELP!

Post Tue Jul 27, 2010 8:04 pm

I did my biometrics last Monday at the VAC centre, and they sealed my passport and info into a white envelope and I was told to send it in myself after I got my birth certificate. My certificate finally arrived yesterday (Monday) and I shipped the whole package with all the supporting documents that day. The Purolator website said that the package arrived in Ottawa the next day (Today/Tuesday) early morning.

I have not gotten any confirmation e-mail that Ottawa has received my package. Has everyone that has applied for a visa gotten an e-mail like this?

Also has anyone applied for a Tier 4 visa recently and can tell me how long it took for them to get it back? I'm worried I won't get my passport back in time, or that they will not receive it at all!

Thank you so much, ANY information at all will be really helpful.

Hello,

The Border Agency does not provide visa application tracking in Canada. I do not believe you will hear from them until your application has been processed.

If your shipping company confirmed that the package was delivered then I am sure they received it!

I have a question for you regarding your birth certificate. I also had to get a new birth certifcate because my original did not include my parents names. I noticed that the new one has my mothers maiden name. Did you have to get a lawyer to notarize the document?

Thanks and good luck!

I just ordered the long form one from Service Ontario, I did not get it notarized and just sent it in as is. I will let you know though if the Embassy contacts me and says that it needs to be notarized (fingers crossed that it's fine!)

UPDATE:

Ottawa confirmed receipt of my application on Thursday (July 29) and today (Wed Aug 4) I was notified that my visa had been issued. This statement, "Please allow a minimum of 3 days for Priority or DHL to deliver your documents and before tracking your package with Canada Post or DHL" seems to be a bit confusing.

Does anyone from Toronto know how long it typically takes?
