Hi everyone,
new to the board, have a few questions about a TN-1 Visa, hopefully someone here has some insight. I apologize if the questions I ask are repeats!
I am currently working in Winnipeg fresh of a Bachelor of Arts-History and a 2 year diploma in Hotel-Restaurant Management, with currently 2 years of hotel experience.
My plan is to gain more experience in Canada and hopefully move to the US in the coming few years. Ever since I was a kid I would have loved to live in Las Vegas or LA. I have travelled both cities extensively and love the south west.
Ideally I would want to get on with a company here in Canada that has hotel locations in CA or NV so a transfer would be easier. Does anyone know how often hotel's might sponsor people down to their US properties from Canada?
Also, I plan to be married when I move, my girlfriend is an HR specialist, not sure if she would fall under any TN-1 Category? How would she move with me then for work?
Also the definition of "hotel management" is somewhat broad, my specialty is hotel sales, and would ideally be searching out a marketing or sales position at a property or high end restaurant in these cities. Technically this is "management" but its not a hotel GM or anything like that. Anyone know if this poses a problem on the TN-1?
Any extra help is most appreciated.
Extra info- Frequent US traveler, however only distant extended family in these cities, no criminal records of any sort. Girlfriend holds Israeli and Russian Citizenship as well as Canadian
