Hello All:

I am in the U.S. for years. Initially on F1 status and on TN visa for last couple of years. Apparently, I don't have home in Canada. I used to live in Ontario.

Do I still need to pay OHIP premium? By living out of Canada over 6 months will automatically cancel my OHIP benifits right? So far, I filed my return as a Canadian Resident. Can I file as a Deemed Resident?

Thank you all for your kind input.

Regards,

Saikrishna

If you are filing as a Canadian resident, have a permanent or principle home in Ontario, are working outside of the country and were living in Canada for 153 days for each of the two years before you left, you can keep your OHIP up to 5 years. Here is the link.
