TN at the border (no BA)

Post Mon Apr 26, 2010 2:43 pm

Greetings,

Just wondering if some old hands can give me advice on my prospects of obtaining a TN at a border crossing (probably a smaller one in Quebec).

I do not have a B.A, but qualify as a Management Consultant as I have over 5 years experience in the field. I have a firm job offer in the US.

My question is what documentation I should have prepared since I do not hold a diploma.

Would a letter from my previous employer stating my job and length of employment suffice?

I assume my future employer will need to provide a letter of intent that stipulated my job title, salary requirements and length of term.

Thank you for any advice you can provide.

Letters outlining the requisite time preiod are required -- but they do not have to be from employer; they can be from colleagues familiar with your work.

The propspective employer also needs to provide you a TN letter.

^thanks for the tip!

So I guess a letter from past my previous employer(s) with the job title and dates I performed the relevant duties is sufficient.

As far as I've gathered, a good TN letter (from my new American employer) would contain:

-Job title
-Salary
-Term (length of employment)
-Tasks to be performed (job description

These two documents, as well as a Canadian passport, would suffice?

The past experience letter may nedd more than just "job title'. You are trying to show that you have gained expertise in your experience that substitutes for lack of a degree, so job title is a bit thin.
