TN or H-1B

I'm working on TN visa for the past 4 yrs and now wish to apply for H-1B to get green card. I was wondering if I apply for H-1B now and then change the job in a few months, what happens to my H-1. My wife is also on H-1B, if she applies for green card, can my name be added to the application if I'm on TN?

You don't need to have H1. to apply for GC, so your firm is wasting your time
