TN Renewal by mail and driver's license question

I just obtained my driver's license in Texas but as many others have found, it will expire in august when my TN status expires as well. I am trying to decide whether to mail in my renewal or to go back to the border.

If I mail it in, do they send me some type of documentation that states the new date of my TN expiration that the DMV will accept?

This license stuff is crazy. any help is welcome! Thanks!

They issue you a new I-94 when it's renewed, if they forget you have your status so it's just a case of going to the POE and getting a new I-94, then you have something to show the DMV.
