TN status with no ending date!

Post Sat Apr 11, 2009 4:01 pm

Thanks for all the info on this great website.

I'm a Registered nurse going to apply for a Tn visa next week in Edmonton, my employer wrote the letter with the start date but there is no ending date and it doesn't say that it is temporary it says that [b]the offer of employment is made on an at-will basis with no contract of employment for any particular time. I spoke to them about this and they says they cannot put any specific end date as they are a non-union hospital meaning there is no garantee that I will work with them for a year.
Will have any problem at the airport?
Thanks for the reply.

Probably, there must be proof the employment is temporary. They're looking for a three-year end date. They can always put "for three years at will".

I would have your employer re-write the letter, as suggested by Steven.

If they have questions, have them take a look at the TNVisaExpert website, there is a help page there I think with common errors, and one of them is having no end date/contract timeline on the employment letter.

Does your letter states for how many years the TN Visa should be granted to you?

If that's the case then I think it should suffice as it would indicate the temporary nature of the job.

Any other thoughts.

The letter doesn't have how many years I will be working for them. I will have them rewrite the letter.
Thanks for all the replies.
