TN to K-3?

About a year ago I met an awesome girl in the US and we've been dating ever since.

About 4 months ago I decided to come to the US to be with her, because I'm self employed I run my Canadian business from the US but don't do any business in the US and stay on a 6 month visitor visa.

It's become more and more apparent that I should apply to for visa as I feel uncomfortable with the current arrangement and may wish to take on US work. I thankfully fall under the TN visa category, and have a company willing to sign off on me.

I have couple questions. I realize that TN does now allow me to work for any other company except the one I work for. I know this is a slightly sketchy question but genuinely is just out of curiosity sake.. how is that tracked? A friend of mine came in on a TN, got his SSN, and then ended up working for a different company and hasn't (yet) run into any issues.

My second question is: The chances are my gf and I will end up getting married, will it be hard to adjust to K-3 from TN?

I realize this is NOT the way to do it, because TN is a non-immigration visa but we are not ready to get married and I'd prefer to live in a world where date night doesn't involve a plane.

You need a TN for each company/client you work for, and you cannot sponsor your own TN. Your friend is working illegally according to what you state.

If you go to US on TN, you will be able to marry and adjust to GC without going thru K3 (that is for those outside US). You will file I-130/I-131/I-485/I-765 all the while staying put in US for 2-3 months and your TN needs to have at leaset 4-5 months left on it to make this work.

This process is called AOS.
