I think you'd be able to file in the mail even if you change employers. I'm sure Agnelson would know about this and he might post an answer to that, hopefully :P

As for cars, it's my understanding that there are no duties or taxes to pay as you can claim your car as your personal property when you re-enter Canada. However, you have to own it as in, it's fully paid off. And yes, buying a car in the US is fabulous =D> ...it's amazing what a rip off it is buying a car back home.

Yes, an I-129 can be filed for a new TN just as easily as for a renewal. But you do need to be in a status when you file for new TN.

Are you working in TN status now? If yes, then you can file I-129; if not, why are you still in US?

Agnelson:

Nope still in status, if i wern't my topic would have been totally different.
i will check with my new employer and ask them if they can. Like i said they just started handing out TNs and have no clue as to how they work, i am sure they wouldn't even know if they can file it online

Thanks

Goldisrising: Honda Coupe sounds like a fly whip  , cant go wrong with a coupe! I never cared much about cars myself when I lived in downtown Toronto (geez, I wonder why lol) but being in a car culture and best of all, being able to afford a somewhat impressive car has changed me into a car lovin' girl

Dremani: yup, it's lovely to be able to afford nice things, isnt it =D> ? Living in downtown Toronto on an entry-level salary meant that at 25, I still needed mom and dad to pay my rent lol I feel so much more independant now: I pay my own rent, own my car and call all the shots.

There was nothing more depressing than having degrees but not being able to make ends meet on your own in Toronto  . And I'm a city girl, no way I was moving to the 'burbs or other Ontario small towns. Thanks but no thanks!

agnelson wrote:"you can't buy a house being on a Visa". Not true; it may not be practical, given the tenuous employement status, but TN is not a bar to buying a house or getting a mortgage

i am on TN visa( status)until nov 2012,and ready to buy a house with tenants.Am I allowed to take the rent money myself, directly, from renters, or shall i use a property managment company?
Under TN visa i cannot make money, except from my job.
What would the IRS say in my case?
thanks in advance

How about just asking your question once. Already answered elsewhere.
