TN Visa and past trips to the US

Hello,

My partner lived in LA and I went to visit him twice this year. He recently moved to San Francisco and I plan on visiting at the end of the year. I am hoping to get a job offer, and with that get a TN Visa (This will probably happen after I visit him). Will they deny me entry if they see that I have been to San Francisco before? Should I say that I am visiting a friend from university instead of my boyfriend when I travel?

First, you do not lie about ANY aspect of your entries into US.

Since this visit is no differnt from the last two, why would this one be any different?

Just don't show up at the airport with a bag ful of resumes.

I am wondering if I get a TN Visa for a job in San Francisco, they will want to know why I was in San Francisco before, and if I say my boyfriend lives there, will they not question by intent to immigrate?

Like I said, you visited your BF twice before without concern.

Why now? Why would SF be any different than LA?

Besides, this has nothing to do with TN. If they suspect that you are visiting BF and intend to immigrate, they won't let you in this time, never mind next.

Let me explain my thinking more....

I do not have the TN Visa yet. When I get a job offer and go to get the TN Visa for a job in San Francisco, they will see that I have already been to San Francisco (And that I was there visiting my boyfriend). They do make notes on your passport file regarding the purpose of your precious trips. If the custom official processing my TN Visa brings these notes up and see I previously went to San Francisco to visit my partner, will they not get suspicious of me? Because of this I am concerned they will think I am not temporarily coming to work, but that I plan to stay/immigrate/ marry my partner in the future, which is a no-no on a TN Visa.

I'm not so concerned about the LA trips because I will be looking for a job in San Francisco. I'm also not concerned about my ability to get through customs to visit him in San Francisco. My only concern is how my previous travel history will look to a custom official processing a TN Visa for me. Mainly I am only worried about making a trip to San Francisco to visit him before getting a TN Visa processed.

You've already visited your BF twice -- the airport you land in doesn't matter -- you weren't denied the second time, so you won't now.

Thanks for your advice, but I don't think my real question has been answered... The part about getting a TN Visa for the first time while looking at my previous travel history.

Each non-immigrant entry is subject to review of immig intent -- yes, TN is subject -- but no more so than an ordinary tourist entry like you ahve been doing.

The fact that you have not been denied entry in the past, amkes entry on TN in the future a cake-walk.

Relax -- or don't enter US until you actually have the job.

btw, they aren't keeping that close tabs on you. They don't for example know the citizenship of your bf. that goes a long way in determining immig intent.
