Ok so i have a unusual situation. 6-7 years ago i took voluntary departure form the US reason i was out of status for 5 months i had to go infront of a Judge and i informed him i will leave. I was told by lawyer i had no bar as i have been out of status for less then 6 month.
In any case i came back to Canada didn't go back to the US for a period of 3 years and then came an opportunity 2 years ago to go back on a TN.
I had no problem with getting my TN actually 3 times now, everytime i go back to get a TN they do ask me about my Voluntary departure but gave me no problem. Last year when they called me in to get my paperwork i informed them about the voluntary departure so the visa officer does not get confused ( i doubt he will but i just wanted to let him know)
i have crossed the border 30 times in 3 years with maybe 15 times the officer at the border asking me about the voluntary departure and as soon as i informed them why they wouldn't say anything
Just curious is Voluntary departure a real bad thing in front of the visa officer? I know it was a stupid thing i did but i was really young and i guess i admit i was wrong instead of blaming how i was deceived into being arrested.
I have no bars, i was just picked up because i had my registration done at the time, i was deciding to go back to Canada and was on my PR
Between if they wouldn't have picked me up during my 5th month i would have a 10 year bar or something like that per lawyer.

Sorry forgot to ask the main question.
I was thinking about filing my TN through mail as i already have 3 with the same company but the reason that makes me sweat is that i have a voluntary departure 6-7 years ago, i was curious if USCIS checks the voluantary departure and deny me the visa? At the border i can at least explain why i had a voluntary departure had no issues in the past with it.
Am i making any sense?
Thanks
