TN Visa - Don't have diploma

Post Tue Oct 25, 2011 11:18 am

Hi all

I am applying for a TN visa as a Management Consultant for a one year contract. I hit a bit of a snag in my preparation in that my diploma and transcripts are currently lost in the mail. (not kidding) I am able to get another official transcript and a letter of 'conferred degree" from my University but I'm not sure if this will be enough for the officers reviewing my application. A replacement diploma takes 4-6 weeks to get so I don't really have another option since I am going to the border this weekend!

Thoughts?

Many thanks!

A TN in MC is rarely contingent on diploma (in fact a diploma is not a criteria -- a bachelors degree in Management or 5 yrs experience is required).

By "diploma" do you mean Bach degree? If so, then a final transcipt is sufficient proof (the sheepskin is not crucial). If not, then you need proof of experience rather than diploma.

There is vast difference between a diploma and a degree in this contect, so just want to make sure what you are talking about when you speak to the agent.

Thanks for the reply! Yes sorry I meant degree. I have a Bachelor's degree and I was referring to the actual sheet of paper as the diploma. I have official transcripts and a letter confirming that I graduated with my bachelor's - am hoping that is sufficient.

That is no problem. In fact, for MC, the officer will often wnat to view the transcript to make sure that your degree corresponds to the field you will be consulting in.
