TN visa: easiest way for common law and children

Post Fri Apr 22, 2011 8:11 am

Hi all,

I will be working 6 months on a TN visa in the US. I am a Canadian citzen. My common law spouse and our Children will be living with me for about 3- 4 months (they are all Canadian citizens). It seems that my Children will come easily with me, but can my wife just simply show up with me and say she'll be there for 4 months and enter like any normal tourist? There seems to be some confusion in related posts on this board, and I really don't want to mess this up.

Thanks a lot!

As long as she maintains a Cdn residence, she will be allowed to enter on B2 tourist status.

But, unless married, she needs to maintain Cdn residence.
