Does it require a degree OR 3 years experience or BOTH?

If either, I have the 3+ years so I'm assuming I could qualify.

If BOTH, I have degrees that are not computer related but I have computer related work experience - will this affect me?

mattd,

To answer you question specifically from experience (I've renewed mine coming on 5 times now).

You require a University Degree or a 2 year College diploma + 3 years work experience.

Your Education and work experience should both be computer related.ie 2 yr Computer Programmer Diploma + 3 years systems analyst work.

If you have both of these criteria
documented properly, nicely packed with transcripts, previous employer letter, resume, etc, then it should be no problem.

If not, it's very risky and you should
probably use an immigration lawyer to
investigate.the main point here.it's all very subjective and discretionary sadly on what officer looks at your paper work.your fate is in someone else's hand.

Good luck.

It would be easier if you have a B.CS degree but as long as you have a degree with relevant experience and hopefully computer related certifications and training then you shouldn't have an issue. There's no indication that the degree needs to be CS, the only professional that needs a specific degree is a Hotel Manager and you need a Hospitality Degree.

Don't let immigration lawyers fool you in thinking you need their services when you don't have a CS degree. But you should make sure your offer and petition letters are well written, you can find examples on the net and just use them.

This forum have given me invaluable info, keep up the good work.

You don't need any experience at all if you have a university degree. If you have a computer science degree, no work experience, you should have no problem getting a TN for Systems Analyst.

The experience is only required if you have only a college diploma.

Your degree, job description, and TN category are all supposed to closely match. The further they stray from each other, the less likely it is you'll get the TN approved.

i.e. If you have a B.A. in History, haven't taken a large number of computer-related courses, have no work experience, and apply for a Systems Analyst, then you have very little chance. If you also have a bunch of years work experience as a Systems Analyst, then they might take that into consideration and it might push you a bit closer to getting it. All depends on who you get, in those border-line cases.
