TN Visa for workshop moderator/facilitator

Post Tue Aug 21, 2007 6:27 pm

Hi,

I'm flying into the US very soon to moderate/facilitate a workshop over two weekends. My concern about getting a TN Visa is that my profession (moderator/facilitator) doesn't fit neatly into the TN recognized professionals. I could use "management consultant" because I've facilitated strategic planning sessions, but that's not the nature of the work I'll be doing this time. Also, my degrees are not directly related to the facilitation work I do now.

If anyone has obtained a TN as a workshop/conference moderator or facilitator, please let me know what classification you used for "Occupation", and how you overcome the problem of not having a degree that matched your occupation. Would it be sufficient to get the US organization hiring me to write a letter explaining my job description for this gig (workshop moderator/ facilitator), why I'm the one they need, and that it's a temporary contract?

Also, if I get the TN, will I be able to re-enter the US to carry out further work for the same employer two weeks later but at a different border crossings than where I obtained the TN?

Thanks,

P.

I do not want to make a plug for our services on the forum - but we are here to help. Since you've posted your question and no one has answered it - our suggestion is you get legal advice so that you can clearly move forward or not. We are recommending the legal advice, because based on your degree, experience and future job title you do not "neatly" fall into one of the NAFTA Occupations.

Applying for the TN Visa and getting rejected, can lead to a lot of problems - especially if you say something that causes concern for the immigration officer. Be sure to read our article on:
How to avoid being denied your TN Visa

Contact a lawyer from the TN Visa Expert Lawyer Network. They offer a very affordable Phone Consultation so you can determine how to proceed. Currently priced at $65USD, it's a 20min call and you will be very clear on your best course of action of how to work in the U.S.

It'll cost you a lot more if you have immigration problems and that's not worth it.

Finally, let them know you found them from TN Visa Expert and provide us feedback of the service. This will keep us informed of the level of service being provided and if need be we can try to improve it.

Reba (moderator), please remove this post if you find it unjustified - my intention, like our mission, is to help Canadians easily and affordably live in the U.S.

Thanks.
