TN Visa help

Post Mon Apr 25, 2011 2:18 pm

I will be going to apply for my TN visa soon as I have a job offer from a reputable company in the USA. I completed 2 years of education in Canada and moved to the US after I got married and when I went to re-apply to school here, my credits there didnt count here. So I decided to go the certification route and completed my CCNA/CCNP certifications.

I know that the CBP requires a degree as a minumum requirement as per NAFTA, but since I wasn't able to complete that and am fully qualified for a job with respect to the certifications, should I take my transcripts with me to prove the period of study. Also, as I am a network engineer, but the role I will partake will be systems manager what position does it come under as per the NAFTA rules?

What else can I take with me to help with the process. I have read soo much in the past 2 hours on the forums that I am getting confused and really nervous as to what might happen. So please help guide me?
I do have an offer letter from the company and all my mark sheets and certifications to accompany it as well as my University transcripts.

Certifications in what? Do you have the job offer already or are you still looking for employment?

No degree, diploma or work experience equals NO TN visa. Reason being is that both of what I mentioned above is what is required at the very minimum in order to receive the TN. The degree meaning (B.A. or B.S.) is all that would be needed and whatever additional certification in any event. For ex: Lawyer, Accountant, RN.

However if have a 2 or 3 year diploma, you would need 3 years of professional experience for every year lesser within the diploma.

You also need to confirm that what you're applying for under the TN fits to that of what is described in the OOH Handbook on the USCIS website.

I have my CCNA/CCnp certifications. I have been given the position under the systerm analyst qualification but I am a Network Engineer by profession. I have a job in my plate right now as we speak - with an offer letter ready to hire depending on my tn status.
