TN Visa Help

Hi everyone. I am in the process of employment in the US on a TN visa. I spoke with an immigration lawyer and they charge a lot to assist you with the process. Is it worth it? Or is it easy to do the application by yourself? Anyone know exactly what the letter from my employer has to say etc? Any help would be great.

You definitely do not need an immigration lawyer! Just search online for templates of sample job offer letters for TN visas and make sure they company hiring you in the US follows that template. All you need are your transcripts, job on NAFTA list, letter from employer in US, your passport, and $56 at the border. It is simple!

The question of whether you should use a lawyer depends on a lot of factors including the complexity of your case, the quality of your documents, your own employment history, your ability to present your case in person before an immigration officer when you apply etc. It would not hurt to get a consultation with a lawyer just to determine where you stand before making the decision to hire a lawyer or try it yourself.

I strongly suggest you do hire a lawyer. Look at it this way, you've got a rotten tooth, pulling it out is easy right? You just pull on it, so why would you even think of going to a dentist?

This is your first TN. Hire a lawyer, have him or her revise your resume, and write the employer letter. Yes there are loads of samples out there, but this letter is custom fitted to you so a sample does not cut it. Also the lawyer shows up with you at the border and this makes a huge difference. The custom's official will ask you questions trying to trip you up, but with a lawyer at your side the game is downsized because you brought a pro along with you.

The fee is not that crazy when you consider it's an investment for your new job.
