I'm currently working in Indiana on a TN visa in the US. I bought my car in Michigan while studying in college for the last 5 years and am a Canadian citizen. Do I need to switch my driver's license/license plates to Indiana or can I continue to keep my plates/driver's license as Michigan. Right now it doesn't seem to be a problem. I go into the Secretary of State office every 5 years in Michigan to renew my driver's license and pay my yearly registration title through the mail. My only concern is when I cross with my Michigan plates into Canada to visit family for the weekend. Thanks.

Check the laws at the Indiana DMV website. Most states have a legal requirement for you to switch to state plates and driver's license within 30 to 60 days of when you become a resident of the state. (residency for purposes of state law have little to do with immigration law)

If you are also a student in a state there are generally exceptions as to when you have to transfer over your license, registration, and insurance.
If you are just working, then things are more stringent.

Basically you have to a DL and registration based on where you reside. If you are not a resident of Indiana then you don't need a DL from there. If you're a student and your primary residence in Michigan then you don't need an Indiana licence, but it sounds to me as though you are living in Indiana, so yes, you need to change your DL and plate over to IN.
