TN VISA - Picking Job Letter from US Employer

Post Wed Apr 06, 2011 1:28 pm

Hi Guys:

I have tow questions:

1. I have time constraint and I want to go and pick the job letter personally. Is it ok if I tell the CBP agent that I am going the U.S. to pick my employment letter?

2. My start date is May 2. How soon I have to apply for TN Visa? I heard that TN Visa application must be made within 2 weeks of work start date.

Thanks in advance

What "constraint"? Sounds fishy. You have e-mail, courier and fax.

3 weeks to get letter is reasonable.

There is nothing fishy my friend. The thought just came in my mind and I decided to seek opinion from the experienced people. My constraint is limited time to start date. I have to give notice to my current employee, get the visa, and move to new location. Of course I can get it via email and fax but I thought CBP wants to see the originals.

Thank you for your reply.

I'm not really wanting to be your friend, but, as I said, any story that involves you going down to US to "pick up a letter" will sound fishy to CBP, not me. Is that how you want to start your US career?

Courier (option you chose to ignore) is faster than driving, believe it or not.

Calm down, be professional, and it will all work out. We've all gotten TNs and had no problems. Besides, you have plenty time ... but in the time you've wasted complaining about my answer, the employer could have the letter with FedEx already.

I mean really, could the poster have been using this as a term of endearment? (Cyber wise anyway)
