Hi there,

I've recieved a US job offer and they're writing the letter for me now. I entered the US as a tourist a few months ago and now need to get my TN status. Can I do this at an international airport in Texas (Class A point of entry) or do I have to fly back to Canada and re-enter?

I don't have the time to file for a change of status as I understand it can take up to three months but would love to save the cost of a flight home right now.

Thanks!

This is my experience and my understanding. You can get a TN at any Class A POE, BUT you must be entering the country. So you can get them at Class A Airport POEs if you are flying into the US, but you can't just drive over there while you're still in the US. If you find out anything different, please post because I'd love to be wrong. When we went to Mexico the first time, we went straight to the booth, but we were sent out to take the walk across the bridge into Mexico and back into the US to apply. We were in Mexico for 20 seconds, but that all it took.

I've heard the same as well from my Immigration Attorney in the U.S. It sure makes for a long drive for me.
