To Go or Not to Go? PLEASE HELP!

Hello there all my name is Braedyn
I am still living here in Canada, however my girlfriend and I would like to move out to France for three to four months this autumn. We are 20, and I would like to better my knowledge and ability in the French language, and my girlfriend hopefully some experience in French cuisine. I was looking for some advice on where to stay in France, best way to get right involved in the culture, or just any advice you have that you feel may benefit me.
