Dear Expat Canadians,
Dulwich Picture Gallery invites you to come and visit the final exhibition in its 200th anniversary year! We would also appreciate if you could help us spreading the word and let everyone know who don't want to miss seeing the Canadian supergroup:
PAINTING CANADA: TOM THOMSON AND THE GROUP OF SEVEN
19 October 2011 - 8 January 2012
This is the first exhibition dedicated to Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven’s stunning impressions since they were first shown in Britain in the 1920s.
The group visited some of Canada‘s most remote areas to be able to paint the stunning landscapes they were so passionate about.
Tom Thomson‘s overturned canoe was found on Canoe Lake in Algonquin Park in 1917. He was only 39 and the cause of his death remains a mystery to this day.
His friends continued his artistic endeavours and created an amazing collection of Canadian landscape paintings, of which over 100 will be on show at Dulwich Picture Gallery!
