Transferring working holiday visa to new passport

Post Sun Jan 06, 2008 8:41 am

I have a working holiday visa which is valid for another year. My passport is due to be renewed and I'm wondering what I need to do regarding my visa. I've found some information online that says I need to submit forms to transfer my visa to my new passport once its renewed and that costs £160 to do. Do I need to do this or will they give me back my old passport with the still valid visa in it? would I just show the two of them to customs? It all seems so confusing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

I have also been wondering the same thing. Also, if you transfer your status (say from working holiday to the skilled migrants category), but decide to renew your passport which will expire soon before doing so, what happens? So so many questions.

When I spoke to someone at passport canada about this a couple of weeks ago I was told that I would simply have to retain the earlier passport and use two passports for the duration of my stay in Britain.

However I also recall reading something on one of the british authorities sites saying that they no longer allowed this to occur and that if you had a visa it had to be in the current valid passport. I haven't been able to find this information again but admittedly i haven't been looking very hard.
