Travel Insurance - Already left Canada

Post Fri Aug 28, 2009 8:00 pm

Hey guys. I left Canada january 2009 and very stupidly did not get travel insurance. now that im gone and having recovered from a bad flu it got me thinking i need insurance incase something really bad were to happen.

problem is im not planning on coming back to canada. ill be goin to england in december and then another year in australia on my 2nd working holiday visa.

does anyone know how i can get travel insurance that will conver me for the entire year in australia and also in england for 3 weeks?

after that i plan a year trip to africa and will need travel insurance for that as well.

im completely hitting a wall as to what to do with this insurance. insurance in australia private medicare is like 200 a month and covers very little.

any options you may know about to help me out would be very appreciated.

Yes you can get "ex-pat" medical insurance but it's fairly expensive. Search for ex-pat health insurance or international health insurance online or something like that. If you're just looking for emergency only, you should be able to get the cheapest plan that will cover you just in case of emergency.

Check out Blue Cross of Canada, that's who I went with for my travel insurance.

They told me if I stayed longer than my current plans to contact them and they'd set me up with more insurance, so hopefully they can help you out too!
