Travel insurance for someone not covered under medicare

Post Fri Nov 18, 2011 11:19 pm

Hi all,

I recently moved back to Canada from the US. Unfortunately, my province doesn't allow medicare to kick in right away (3 month waiting period) so I am on blue cross 'visitors to canada' insurance. I plan to visit Asia next week, but all of the travel insurance options I look at require you to have the government health plan.

Is there any travel health insurance option that doesn't require you to have medicare?

Thanks!

Not for Cdns. I would wat until it kicks in in your province.

Btw, unless you are in ON or NB, the thrre month waiting does not apply (it is illegal in ON and NB, but that is another story). The waitng period id for non-residents and for thsoe moving between provinces (which keep coverage under the old province).
