Travelling from London to Middlesbrough

Post Wed Nov 21, 2007 6:49 am

Hi there,
In my upcoming trip to England, I want to travel up to Middlesbrough. I was wondering if someone can tell me the best way to get there from London. I mean, is there a train that travels there directly or would I have to take the bus? Also, approximately how long does it take to get there? What are the best sights to see there or along the way?

I'd appreciate any info!

:) Allyssa

Yes, you can get a train there - it takes about 3.5 hours and you'll need to change either at Darlington or York, and it leaves from London King's Cross Station.

National Rail's website can give you times, costs, etc:

Buses can be cheaper, but are generally a lot slower and less comfortable:

Since it's going through there anyways, I would highly recommending getting off in York for the day (or two) - it's an amazing city, and the cathedral is well worth the visit.
We've got rocks and trees, and trees and rocks, and rocks and trees and trees and rocks and.water!
