A friend and I will be travelling to Europe for three weeks at the end of June 2004 and we have no idea where to begin. All we kow so far is that we want to spend some time in Amsterdam and that we need to save money by backpacking. We are single girls in our 20's and we like to have a good time. We've never been to Europe before, we're not even sure which country is the cheapest to fly into. Any tips from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
:D

Thanks for any help!!!

Sounds like much the same as I when I first went. I was 18, went to a travel agent and said "Get me the cheapest flight to Europe". He got me a flight to Dusseldorf, I bought it, and then looked at the map to figure out where it was Smile

A week later I was over there. Don't make a rigid plan..Just be flexible, do what you want when you want it. If you wanna go to Paris, go for it. For example, when I went to Amsterdam I figured I'd spend 3 days. I ended up spending a week and a half! Get a Eurail pass for sure. Check out the train section of this site or look at www.eurail-info.com.

Just have fun..You'll end up meeting people, hearing about cool places as you go along. Get a good guide book (I recommend Lonely Planet Europe on a Shoestring) and just go whereever sounds interesting! A train pass gives you that flexibility..You can just go wherever you want pretty much.

Have a fun trip!
Matt
