Travelling to Germany with a criminal record

Hi I have a minor criminal record and I am aware of the pardon thing but wanted to know if I can enter Germany with the record? as in would the customs/authorities be able to check once they see my passport and stuff?

does anyone know?

I think it depends if your criminal record shows up on the scanner once they scan your passport. I think you better call the passport office in Canada and ask.

Customs and Immigration officers in Eurpoe DO NOT HAVE access to your criminal record by the scan of your passport. This information is not embedded in your passport. The only customs agents who have access to your record info is US customs. This is because they share a database with their Canadian counterparts. You can travel freely to any country in Europe with a record but if you decide to get married or apply for residency, the authorities WILL do a background check and a criminal record may disqualify you from residency or extension of stay.
