Thanks so much for your reply. My cats are not out door cats, so no worries there and Im getting married so not planning on getting them back out! Were you able to take them right on the plane with you, or were they kept in a separate location?

HI there,

I hope you are still checking your Canuck Abroad page. I am considering a move to Tunisia, would you mind answering a few questions for me?

Are there many English speaking individuals? My partner and I only speak English, will this be an issue? I will have a job in the Oil and Gas Industry however, my boyfriend will need to find one, will his lack of dialect hurt his options, even in the hospitality industry...we will most likely be living in or near a tourist area. Are there bars there? I read somewhere that bars are mostly filled with men and if there are women, they are most likely prostitutes...so if I go to a bar...I am going to be viewed as a prostitute?? Do women have to cover up, and if so, how much?

Please let me know how you are doind, how you find your new life there? How old are you? We are in our late 20's and want to travel, how is the travleing to and from Europe like?

Thanks so much! I look forward to your reply. I just signed up today so I guess I'll figure this out eventually!

Cheers!

I concur with lmolla... I would especially not let your cats out if they are pure-breed; I had a pure breed Birman growing up... he got out one summer and got stolen; he showed up a year later at our front gate (a perfect Lassie-come-home-story). About 6 months after he returned, he got out in Tunis and was stolen again in a different neighborhoold never to be seen again. Indoor cats as pets are on the rise in Tunisia so it is nice to see that there are now veterinary service and a range of cat products available. Growing up, I used to fill the litter box with sand from the beach...

What paperwork is necessary to bring a cat to Tunisia? I plan to leave for there soon and will be bringing my cat there from my current residence in the US.

Thanks for any assistance,
Pete
