Here is an email address for any of those looking as well!

Cheers!!

I only see information on that link about how to get a Canadian passport if you're in Britain. Confused I get the Canadian High Commission in Britain, not the British High Commission in Canada from that link. Am I missing something? Confused

I thought is was only if your Mother was born in Britain anyhow. I've looked before, and because my father is Brit, I'm not eligible. But I can apply for an ascestry visa if I decide to go there. That's what I found out when I was looking anyway.

Actually that is not true and I don't know where you read/heard that. My older brother and I are both UK passport holders because our dad was born in Glasgow. They accept both mother and father now.

The reference in the announcement to "Mother" is because, until the new laws were enacted, only the "Father's" citizenship counted in determining citizenship "by descent".

the laws changed to add those whose mothers were born in UK. since those whose fathers were born in UK were already eligible.

UK, Canada and many other countries had or still have laws on the books that pass citizenship only thru one parent.

So, reba, I guess the real key word in that post was not "mother" but "now", in contrast to 'up until now'
