U.K. citizenship

Post Sat Apr 05, 2008 9:33 pm

Hi, if anyone can help please do!
My fiance and I are planning on being part of an organization called CAN-UK. where they send cooks, chefs, restaurant staff etc to the U.K to work.

My fiance's mother was born in the U.K., so does this make him able to get a citizenship and passport? he would like to have a dual citizenship, but all the sites are way too confusing. I don't want to go through the hassle of apply for Visa's, if i dont have to. Does any one know what paper work he has to fill out, and where to get it? Also, if we get married before we fill out the paper work, does this affect me?

Thanks guys! hope to hear soon :)

Hi. I'm not entirely sure of your situation, but hope this will help;I am Canadian and have a Canadian passport, but have right of Abode in Britain due to my parents being british. (British by descent)I am in the process of applying for a British passport and have been told that my Father's British birth certificate is also needed. Before it was ok just to have a British born mother. The passport requirements have changed recently - an interview is now part of the process also, to get a British passport. I would advise you to ring the British Home Office Immigration and Nationality Directorate for advice as they will tell you everything you need to know.
0845 010 5200. Good luck!
Hope this is helpful!
