UK Ancestry document question

Post Wed Jan 02, 2008 10:52 am

I'm planning on applying for the UK
Ancestry visa in March, and I have a
question:

I'm claiming through my grandmother
who was born in the UK (mom's mom).
My question is - do I need my
grandparents' long form marriage
certificate if my mom's long form
birth certificate, which I already have,
lists my grandma's maiden name?

I see no point in the marriage
certificate other than to show a name
change.?

From all the information I've found you do not need a long form marriage certificate, only long form birth certificates for you, your mom, and your grandmother.

This is by no means definitive as I still have yet to complete my visa application myself.

Hi Smiley,

I came over to England in May 2007 by using an Ancestry Visa through my grandma (mom's mom as well). I did not need my grandma's marriage Certificate. All I needed was my grandma's long form birth certificate as well as mine and my mom's. The whole process was quite stressing. I know how you must feel! If you have any other questions, feel free to email. Good luck!
