UK Ancestry - parents joining me?

I have been living in Scotland on an Ancestry visa for nearly 5 years now and I am hoping my parents can join me for an extended period of time. Financially they would not be a drain on the system as my partner and I could support them and they are also able to work (jobs such as retail, etc.) The problem is that they are 64 and 63 years old. What do you think their chances might be of getting approved?

Hello!

By an extended period of time I would assume you are talking about a period of over 6 months. You can enter the uk as a tourist for up to 6 months.

If they are planning on joining you for any longer and / or working they will need visas.

IF you have an ancestry visa concievably they would be able to apply for one as well. This of course is the easiest visa to obtain provided you can prove lineage. That is easiest beside the Working holiday maker which is not relavent in this case.

If for whatever reason this is not an option have a look at the UK visa's site and there's a section on family:

Hope this helps.
Cheers.

Following the death of my brother in Canada, my elderly parents are planning to move to the UK to live close to me and my family. I am a Uk citizen, having moved over here in 1978.Both my parents are Canadian citizens but my father was born and lived in the UK until he emigrated to Canada at the age of 21 in the early 1950s. I presume he can get an entry clearance certificate but what about my Mum?

Your father is undoubtedly a UK citizen; he should reaffirm this by getting a UK passport. So your mother can either join him in UK as his spouse, where age wouldn't matter, or, join you as your mother (although this might be easier when if she is already 65).

I don't forsee a problem.
