UK Ancestry Sponsorship questions & Other

Post Fri Jul 29, 2011 3:34 pm

Hello!

I looked around but couldn't find a topic with a similar question or answer, so hopefully this isn't a double post. I'm looking to apply for a UK Ancestry visa in August (very close now). I believe I have all of the required documents I had some questions about sponsorship that I was hoping someone could answer for me.

I have the allotted amount of money saved that I need to apply for the visa, as well as knowing I will have more saved by the time I intend to leave for the UK, I wanted to have extra help just in case. My father would like to help me out by sponsoring me while I'm in the UK but he is a Canadian citizen. On the application itself there is only a space for a UK citizen to sponsor.

Is it possible for him to do this? If so, is there a separate form I need to find for him to fill out? Or do I just need a letter from him explaining his willingness to help me out financially should a situation arise where it is needed?

Also, would it be beneficial to have a police check done and send that in with my visa application? My fiance is told me it's needed but I haven't read anywhere that it's completely necessary. Will it help my application if I get one done? I'm also still a little confused as to the procedures with biometrics, would that be completed the same day I make an appointment to apply (after finishing the application online) in Toronto? I'm a few hours away and I don't own a vehicle I just would like to know how often I should be expecting to get a ride down.

I believe that's everything that I'm not 100% about. Thank you in advance for any help!

Hi,

Sorry I do not know anything about sponsoring. They want to see that you have a sufficient amount of money in your bank account to support yourself for at least a few months. So I would suggest putting in as much as you can. I had about $4000 in my account when I applied.

As for the police check I would not worry about spending the money to get it done. I did not get one done and was approved with no problem. I believe they will check into your background and if you have done nothing wrong criminally you will be fine.

When you submit your application online you will setup your biometrics appointment at that time. Make sure that you will have all your documents by then. You should only need to go to the office once as long as your paperwork is good.

Good Luck
