What I am going to include with my application for UK Ancestry, once I get the biometrics done on Tuesday:

- My printed application form
- My two passport photos
- The results of my chest X-ray
- Letters from:
a) My father, saying he will send me money, should I become unable to support myself
b) My boyfriend, saying he can support me if I can't find work right away
c) My boyfriend's Father, saying that I will be living with them until I find employment, and will be supported by them financially
- 3 months of Bank statements (I will only have roughly $600-$700 in my account, but I do get paid every 2 weeks, and I will highlight those deposits, so they know I'm employed)
- A letter of intent to find and sustain work in the United Kingdom
- An e-mail from a recruitment company, saying they would be happy to find me a job once I arrive
- A print out of jobs that I am interested in applying for
- My CV
- A copy of my Bachelor of Arts degree
- A copy of my acceptance to the Distance Education in Public Relations from the University of Victoria (so they know I am still studying)
- My Birth Certificate
- My parents Birth Certificates
- My parents Marriage Certificates
- My Scottish Grandmother's Birth Certificate
- My Grandparents Marriage Certificate
- My two passports (one is expired)
- My confirmation of payment

Will this be sufficient? I know I don't have much money, but I'm hoping it won't be a problem, seeing as my boyfriend and his parents are willing to support me, and I will be staying with them until I find a job anyway.

Any advice?

Has anyone here been rejected for not having enough money? Has anyone been accepted without having a lot of money? I'm worried about this.

From what I've been reading, you should be OK. On another forum I belong to, there's an immigration specialist that answers questions too. She mentioned to me that you don't need a marriage certificate for parents or grandparents, because you are only outlining the lineage (you-> parent-> grandparent). However I'm sure it doesn't hurt to have it (we don't). You got me on the chest x-ray part- I guess it's only to prove you don't have TB? Never realized they'd ask about that.

Please let me know how you get on, so we have an idea for what we're in for in a few months.

Hi Peter! I was told I would need the chest X-ray to prove I don't have TB, because Canada is one of the at risk countries.

What is the link for the forum with the immigration specialist?

Jen, it won't let post the whole thing as I'm too new, but it's Canadian Expats (Google it).

Look on the Immigration/Visa section for a poster by the name of Victoria S- you'll see my posts there too.

Where does one get the biometrics done.I am in BC but closer to Edmonton/ Calgary than Vancouver.Do you need an appointment. Is it done before and included in documation to be sent in?Would appreciate address and phone number if possible. Thank you.

You make an appointment after you complete your online application from what I understand. You print off your completed application and bring all of your documents with you. I understand you must do the biometrics within two weeks from when you completed your application.

I know there's a biometric office in either Calgary or Edmonton, I'll see if I can figure it out.

It's in Edmonton; I can't get an address, but when you fill out your application it tells you where it is.

When you fill out your application online, if I remember correctly, it asks which biometric office you want to go to to do your biometrics. You then book your own appointment after finishing your online application. MAKE SURE you book your biometrics appointment at the same office as you said you would on your application.

Also, the office in Alberta is in Edmonton. It's actually not too hard to find. My friend and I just took a left instead of a right once inside the building, but the construction guys we ran into (they were renovating the side we went to) actually walked us to the right side. Smile

Oh, and also, I (and many other people) got approved without having the x-ray for TB. I think you only need that if they request it.
