UK ANCESTRY VISA - FINAL BITS

Post Fri Feb 22, 2008 4:53 pm

Okie dokie. Right.

FINALLY managed to get all the paperwork together for my partners UK Ancestry Visa. (i hope, if anyone could give me a full list that'd be nice XD)

So, the Biometrics. He's in S.E Calgary, what's the closest place he can go for all that? I've heard Edmonton but we're hoping not because thats a long treck when he cant drive :(

I'm assuming the biometrics is before the sending of all the files.

What do you need to take to the appointment, and once it's done.what do you do next? Send off everything to the main office off the Visa website? Bit stuck past there :(

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

Hey Calster, glad to hear you guys are finally getting all of this sorted! :)

http://www.visainfoservices.com

This is the site you will need to make your appointment, it will list all of the available biometrics offices and he will need to pick whichever one is closest to where he is. Unfortunately there is no office in Calgary so he will have to make the trip to Edmonton if he wants to make this happen. You will not be able to make an appointment until you have submitted the online application and recieved a confirmation number via e-mail.

He will need to bring ALL of his information with him as well as a printed application and a passport sized photo cropped to the size of the box on the printed application.

What will happen at the appointment is they'll verify the info on his application take a scan of his fingers and face, then seal all of his application documents in an envelope.

Once he has this envelope he must not break the seal on it or it will invalidate his application. If he wishes to add any additional information after he has gone to his biometrics appointment he may included it outside of the envelope in the a package he will be sending off to ottawa.

Once you have had your biometrics taken you have 10 days to get your documentation to ottawa. The best way is via certified courier just to ensure the security of your documents.

This method can cost between 20-30 dollars depending on your location.

Hope that helps.

I know . However you can ONLY apply online in canada at the moment they are not accepting paper applications as they collect all fees online right now.

I had this same issue and went through a number of headaches getting it sorted.

Just make sure your boyfriend is going through this site : http://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk

when he is prompted to select Purpose of visit select ' exempt/other'

Then for type of visit select ' UK ancestry '

Ignore all the VAF stuff as the pdf forms are irrelevant to the online application process.

Section 6 is the part that gave me the most problems if you are still having issues with it when you get there I'll try and dig up some of the information I have on it buried in my e-mail box. :)

OK! Applications done. On that site, do you 'make an appointment' ? I cant seem to find anything else to do! and that doesnt even mention biometrics o_o
