Sorry 12 weeks - not 21 weeks. Feels like 21 weeks though!

I'm not sure if you get an email when the application arrives, or when they begin processing it. The email I received said that my passport and documents had arrived safely and that my application was being processed...

Finally heard something from Ottawa - they did send a confirmation email to my Visa Company - but it never arrived....

Re: UK Ancestry Visa... Question

I have recently applied for a UK Ancestry Visa. I'm applying to the consulate in Los Angeles. They emailed me a week after they rec'd my application to say they rec'd it and opened it. They then said they'd email in 24 hours if my application was standard. I rec'd one today that said my application needs further attention/consideration by their office. Is this standard backlog and bureaucracy, or could something be wrong with the application. Just wondering at what point should I worry! lol

Just a quick question about working with the UK Ancestry visa... would you be able to work in any other EU country (at any point during the 5 years the visa is valid), just like a regular UK citizen?

My Girlfriend is trying to apply for Ancestry visa.
She has Birth Certificates but is getting very stressed as they might be the wrong ones, Her Birth Cert does not have her parents name on it. What should she do now? does she have to get new ones with her Parents names on it? As far as she knows the one she has is the only one.
Desperately needing advice!

Congratulations. Would you be willing to let me know about the process. I am currently in the UK with my Partner but leave in 10 days. We are working on how to have me over for longer period of time. How long can I stay? What are the requirements?

this is possible to happen if there is something amiss in your documentation or they need to check something. I received mine back extremely quickly, and I was told that there would only be a delay if there was a problem with my documents. It's possible they needed to check something. But if you're entitled to live in the UK, they'll let you in.

I'm not sure if you can. I crossed over the border at Paris for a weekend getaway before I had my visa, and there's no border checks after that. All I know is that if you live out of the UK for an extended period of time after being approved for the visa, you may not get approved for you Indefinite Leave to Remain after the 5 years, which entitles you to apply for British citizenship.

Hope this helps!

Hi there!!! I applied for my WHM a few years ago! I applied online and then just sent my documents to Ottawa. With the biometrics now does it go the same way or when i go to get them done do I take the documents with me and hand them in at that office? Does Anyone know? Or fill me in on their experience. I'm from St.John's so I have to go to Halifax for the biometrics!! It sucks!! haha
