Re: UK Ancestry Visa... I got mine!

I am in the process of applying for a UK Passport...both my parents were British Citizens and moved to Canada in 1952...I was born in Canada...but I understand that I don't need to apply for citizenship as both my parents were I automatically am considered a British Cit by descent. Does anyone know if my UK passport will let me live in UK or France...thinking of relocating to France as my boyfriend lives there. Thought that having my UK would open up doors easier in Europe.
Any tips or information on relocating would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
P

Help with Ancestry Visa pretty please!

Post Wed Apr 08, 2009 9:02 am

Hello hello!
I'm hoping some of you are still looking at this...I have a couple questions about this process...

I am applying for an ancestry visa for the UK, am a canadian citizen, living in the us (i have us citizenship too). I have confirmed that I qualify but am a little confused:
1. Because I plan to be in the UK for an unknown length of time I'm not sure how to provide my flight itinerary. The application states that a "full itinerary" is necessary - seeming like a return flight needs to be booked. Is this true or can I have a one-way ticket to the UK as long as I have sufficient funds?
2. Are the original documents required to prove my ancestry, or are copies accepted? I have copies and I saw the link to get "certificates" - does this site work for all the family history certificates I need, or only for personal ones pertaining to me?
3. I also don't have a job lined up whatsoever, am 22 college grad and have a dui in my history (all penalties have been completed, it's recognized as a misdemeanor and there wasn't an accident or injury...)- anyone have any knowledge if these things will hinder my application at all?

Thank you for your time!

I'm sending my application for Ancestry Visa tomorrow but my printer is broken and i can't print off my email from friends saying i was staying with them. It won't be possible for me to include their names, address adn phone numbers! That won't be enough to satisfy them will it?

Finally, My Girlfriend heard this morning about her visa.
We had a problem with her sons visa and had to redo it, but sent it by fax yesterday to them.
This morning they emailed to say they had recieved it, would take 5 days, we heard less than an hour after that it was all done.
Clearance Granted!

Very sorry for the late reply, but no, I doubt it would satisfy them. If you delayed your appointment, I'd suggest emailing it to yourself and going to the library and printing it off.

First off, Congratulations!!!

Being in the middle of the process right now, I'm sure it is a huge weight off your shoulders.

I'm soon off to my closest VAC with my boyfriend to get the biometrics done and I want to be sure we have everything we need before we go (the centre is 3 hours away).

I know we need certificates (birth, marriage) for grandparents - do we need certificates for ourselves and/or our parents? I can't find anywhere which clearly states it and, again, just wanted to clarify from people who have gone through this.

PS. Any other tips or advice?

You need your long form birth certificate and your mom's or your dad's, whichever parent you're claiming through; ie. if your grandparent is your mom's mom/dad.

As well, make sure you make it clear you can support yourself while looking for employment in the UK, and make sure you show your intention to find and retain permanent employment.

If you need any more advice, please PM me. I can respond faster to PMs than posts on here, as I'm a forgetful as a goldfish when it comes to checking the forum!

Good luck!

Hello everyone
i am just finishing up gathering all documentaion for the ancestry visa.
Waitng for my own long form BC.
I wont have a lot of money when i get there (maybe 2000 pounds), but will be able to stay with friends rent free for as long as i need to.
hs anyone out there been to the biometric place in Vancouver?.
I will need to book a flight to get there.
Do I bring all my documentaion and application there?

Any advice or help will be appreciated.

thanks, erin
