UK Ancestry Visa Spouse Application

Post Sun May 23, 2010 3:34 pm

Hi

I have just sent in my online visa application. I am wondering one thing. Does my common law partner need to fill out a separate application? In my application it only asked their name, birth date, nationality and if they are traveling with me.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks :)

Hi,

Yes your partner will also need to submit a separate visa application.

Thank you

Hi all :)

Visas can be so confusing but I've been reading some other topics and there are some really helpful people out there, I just hope someone can help me :)
I am currently on a student visa which will expire in March 2011 and my boyfriend had a UK Ancestry Visa (he is from South Africa). We are looking into the UK Ancestry Dependency Visa, but we're not married and I was wondering if unmarried partners are able to apply. In May 2011 we will have been living together for 2 years (we have the necessary documents to support this) the only problem is, from March until May next year am I able to stay in the country as a vistor (plus to make up the full two years of us living together) and go home in mid-May to apply for the visa? Is there a way to apply while I'm in the UK?
I believe I have read the home office website correctly in thinking I am able to apply as a dependent partner, however my boyfriend isn't considered "settled" because he hasn't been in the UK long enough, otherwise we would just apply for the Unmarried Partner Visa but he would need to have Indefinite Leave to Remain Status which he doesn't have.
Has anyone been through this process?? Thanks for taking the time to read this! :)
