UK citizen and Canadian citizen couple looking to move to UK

Our situation:

- Me - UK citizen, unemployed
- My wife - Canadian citizen, employed, looking for work in the UK
- Us - living in Canada currently, looking to move to the UK via the settlement route

When my wife gets a job offer (which we expect sooner rather than later), would we be able to use the job offer letter as a supporting document that we could support ourselves financially? While I am also looking for work in the UK, my wife has had better luck than I have in getting interviews.

Also, when the form asks for 'Evidence of your current employment or studies' what form should this take? We are rather keen that her current employer not know until her visa is secured.

If you're unemployed, the settlement route is not the best route for your wife as you're unlikely to be able to prove that you can support yourselves without having recourse to public funds. Note that if she earns a very high salary and/or that you both have a lot of savings, you can be considered as being able to support yourself but it has to be a lot of money to compensate for your lack of earnings.

If your wife has a job offer, the easiest way for her to come to the UK would be under Tier 2 category, provided her prospective employer is registered as a Tier 2 sponsor.
