UK on one-way no visa

Post Sun Sep 23, 2007 7:32 pm

So everyone, time is running out. I have a one-way booked for the 24th of October. I've done a search and only found posts with people who had visa's(holiday/ancestry). So I was wondering if anyone thinks I'll have any problems. Has anyone done this? I'm only going to be in England for about a month before I'm off to France. I might go see Ireland for a week in between, so I don't want to book a flight now. I'm going to have around three grand, do you think thats enough to keep the border agents happy?

Thanks for helping,

Kraig

Hi Kraig,
Do you have your ticket for France already? If so, you shouldn't have any problems getting into UK -- they have the guarantee that you are leaving again.(and yes, $3000 should be convincing enough!) However, if you do not have a visa for France or a return ticket (within the time allowed for a toursit visa there) they may give you problems leaving the UK. I flew through London a year ago and did not have a visa for the country I was travelling into (and my return ticket was booked for a year from then). They stopped me at the airport when I was about to leave and forced me to change my return ticket to 3 months (the maximum allowed time for a Canadian to have a tourist visa in they country I was living in).
Best of luck!
